01. About

Hello, nice to meet you! I'm Rithika, a biomedical engineering junior at Texas A&M University currently pursuing the biomaterials track.

I am deeply interested in the fabrication and analysis of materials for implants, drug delivery, and biocompatible modifications. I've been involved in research at The Kaunas Lab for the entirety of my time in college. To read more about my research, scroll down!

When I'm not in school or doing research, I enjoy playing with my dog, taking bike rides, watching basketball and working on my car!

02. Research

  • The Kaunas Lab

    @ Texas A&M University

    • Focus on developing materials for bone regeneration and developing bench top models to help understand certain disease states
    • Engineer micro-tissues containing mesenchymal stem cells as a means for regenerating musculoskeletal tissues and studying bone tumor biology
    • Investigate novel methods for cultivating osteogenic tissue by harvesting and tethering extracellular bone matrix to hydrogel scaffolds via click-chemistry
    • Utilize Weka machine learning to analyze and quantify datasets of interest
    • For a basic understanding of the project I'm working on, take a look at this video
    • To understand the work I've done on a deeper level, check out this paper
  • The Uddin Lab

    @ The University of Miami

    • Wrote MATLAB code to preprocess raw MRI data to create artifact-free, brain scan datasets
    • Code was used to contrast the resting-state functional analyses of MRI imaging data of children with autism against those of other developing children
    • To see what I worked on, check out my final presention here

03. Get in Touch

I'm currently looking for internships or research in the biomedical sector for Summer 2021. I am interested, but not limited to, regenerative medicine, tissue engineering, genetic enegineering, and artificial organs. If you'd like to chat, feel free to shoot me an email at rithika@tamu.edu or connect with me on LinkedIn at rithika-adavikolanu !
